We are having a rainy and stormy morning here in beautiful East Tennessee. We need the rain. It started raining last night. I always seem to sleep good at night when it rains or storms.
I got up a little before 8 and drank coffee, read my Bible and prayed then I sent the verse of the day.
Philippians 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgement:
I fixed Cliff some oatmeal with raisins, and I ate an apple sliced up and I dipped it in some unsalted almond butter.
I sewed together the backing to a quilt that I'm making. The backing is real cute. It has colorful little llamas on it. The quilt is the Square Dance quilt pattern and the (16) 6 1/2 inch blocks are a variation of a log cabin block and the (9) 12 inch blocks are called postage stamp blocks. I used a different piece of fabric for every piece in this quilt so no two blocks are the same.
The rain let up for a little bit and Zeb took out the trash and rolled the trash cans to the road because tomorrow (Thursday) is trash day. I dashed out and took the chickens some scraps from the kitchen and gathered the 3 blue eggs that the girls had for me.
For lunch I heated up some leftover pizza. Since it was such as easy lunch, I made a pan of No Bake Cookies as a special treat. Cliff and Zeb really enjoy warm No Bake Cookies. I will share the recipe that I use. I don't remember where I found the recipe but it is one of our favorite treats and it is really quick to make.
No Bake Cookies
1/2 stick of butter (4 tbs)
2 cups sugar
4 tbs cocoa powder
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
1/2 cup milk
3 cups old fashioned oats
Lay out a piece of aluminum foil, parchment paper or wax paper and grease it with butter. Heat butter, sugar, cocoa, and milk. Let in come to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Remove from the heat, stir in the peanut butter and vanilla. Stir quickly until the peanut butter melts then add the oatmeal. Stir quickly then drop by spoonful's onto the buttered foil. Let cool and the enjoy.
Those little bits that fall off the side of the spoon and the pan as I'm dipping them out are my favorite. I usually eat those little bits while the bigger cookies cool. I guess you could call those the cooks treat.
After lunch I basted the quilt that I mentioned earlier. Then I drew out my quilting lines. Took Dolly out back for some fresh air and I like to listen to the rain. I fixed some leftover ham, mashed potatoes, peas, cooked apples and biscuits. I cut most of the ham off the bone. Now I have to bone simmering on the stove in a big pot of water so that I can make ham broth. Perhaps tomorrow I will can some bean and ham soup and some split pea soup.
After supper, I cleaned up the kitchen and finished up some laundry. I quilted 5 or 6 horizontal lines on the quilt. Zeb is working on photos for his class tomorrow and helping me learn how to upload my photos onto my journal pages. It helps to have the camera on. HAHA!!
I hope to journal on here every evening and add photos.
I am going to sign off for today. It is still raining so that makes for some good sleeping weather. Goodnight and God Bless and Keep You Safe.
